Despite the ugly massacres committed by the Zionist regime in these two days, Lebanese people surprised the entire world with their steadfastness, with Resistance fighters keeping the momentum of rocket fire, and heroically confronting Israeli attempts to advance on ground.
The massacres which were carried out in these two days were horrible. On Tuesday, July 18, 2006, Israeli warplanes razed several houses on their residents, killing or injuring dozens, most of them were children. The death toll of the aggression reached 200 on that day.
Meanwhile, the Resistance kept the momentum of its rocket fire, by launching dozens of Raad-2 and Raad-3 missiles on Haifa, Safad and Tiberias, in addition to many other settlements.
Israeli commanders started to prepare for a ground offensive, with an Israeli force was reported to make an attempt of an incursion in Shebaa Farms’ Ghajar area. Resistance fighters confronted the Israeli advance and forces the occupation soldiers to retreat to beyond the Blue line.
On Wednesday, July 19, 2006, Israeli enemy stepped up its aggression, launching intensified air strikes on several areas across the country. The Israeli strikes killed at 70 civilians in that day, with the prominent massacre was reported in the southern town of Sreifa, when Israeli fighter jets destroyed at least 10 houses on their residents.
By that day (the eighth day of the war) heavy damage to Lebanon’s infrastructure had been reported, with a total of 42 bridges destroyed and 38 roads damaged. and extensive damage to telecommunications, electricity, ports, airports, and even private sector facilities, including a milk factory and food warehouses. Damage to fuel containers in Jiyye and 12 service stations in Bir Abed, Khiam, Ain Ibl, Moseileh, Rmeileh, Houla, Hesbe, Tyre, Kfar Kila, and Douris raised the likelihood of fuel shortages.
Also on July 19, Israeli forces attempted to infiltrate into Lebanese border towns, but the Resistance fighters were fully prepared to confront the Israeli incursion and teach the invaders a hard lesson. Resistance fighters heroically clashed with Israeli commando force, repelling an airdrop operation in the southern town of Aitaroun. Several Israeli soldiers were killed in the clashes as well as three Merkava tanks were destroyed.
