On the first anniversary of the Mighty Warriors Battle, the Lebanese “Ahd… wa Ward” (A Covenant and a Rose) collective launched a symbolic nationwide initiative to commemorate the martyrs, distributing roses to people who endured 2024 Israeli aggression and in the sites where fallen fighters rest. The gesture, simple yet profound, sought to reaffirm loyalty to those whose sacrifice defended Lebanon’s dignity and land.
From Nabatieh in the south to Baalbek in the Bekaa, and across several neighborhoods in Beirut’s southern suburbs (Dahiyeh), families and supporters gathered to mark the occasion.

One of the largest gatherings took place on Bir Al-Abed Street in the Dahiyeh, where the initiators distributed flowers to passersby, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to the resistance and its martyrs.
Several flower shops in Beirut’s Dahiyeh contributed to the campaign by offering hundreds of roses free of charge. Among them was La Fleur Dorée, owned by Mrs. Fatima Fares, who had invited people days earlier to take part in this act of gratitude and remembrance.

Speaking to the Al-Manar Website, Mrs. Fares emphasized that the initiative is “a tribute to everyone who endured the suffering of the Israeli aggression one year ago—those who lost their homes, their shops, and above all, those who lost beloved members of their families.”
She added that offering roses was “the least we can do to honor the patience of our people and the steadfastness that protected this country. Every flower carries a message of love for the martyrs and strength for the families who continue to rebuild their lives with dignity.”
The Land Is Ours
The initiative spread quickly across social media, inspiring activists to take part in their own way.
In Nabatieh, Abbas Bitar distributed dozens of roses inscribed with the words “We carry their testament as a covenant and trace their steps with roses.”
In the Bekaa, Hanan Dorra joined the campaign, handing out flowers carrying the same message—a symbolic affirmation of the deep connection between the people and their land, especially after a year marked by loss, displacement, and resilience.
Activists described this gesture as a “quiet but powerful declaration” that Lebanon’s soil, watered by sacrifice, remains rooted in its people’s identity and protected by their steadfastness.

A Collective Memory, A Collective Promise
As flowers were distributed to resistance supporters, placed at destroyed buildings, and scattered across neighborhoods still bearing the scars of last year’s aggression, a profound sentiment united towns across Lebanon: remembrance intertwined with an unshakable pledge to defend the homeland at any cost.
Families, youth groups, and elderly residents stood shoulder to shoulder, holding roses toward the sky—a symbolic declaration that Lebanon honors its martyrs not only with grief but also with enduring pride, gratitude, and resolve. Even in the face of destruction, the loss of homes, and the hardships inflicted by the Israeli enemy, the people’s commitment to resistance remains steadfast and unyielding.
