Beit Jinn, Damascus Countryside – A deadly Israeli occupation military incursion into the Syrian town of Beit Jinn culminated in a violent withdrawal after hours of armed clashes, leaving four Syrians martyred, several wounded, and three civilians arrested, according to local sources.
The operation began when units of the Israeli occupation force penetrated the town, meeting resistance from local young men. The confrontation escalated rapidly, with the Israeli army deploying artillery and armed drones, leading to a sustained bombardment that lasted for approximately two hours.
Syrian media reported that following the bombardment, the Israeli forces arrested three residents of Beit Jinn before pulling back to the outskirts of the town.
Conflicting Narratives on the Detainees and the Operation’s Goal
Justifying the raid, the Israeli occupation military claimed the operation targeted “terrorist elements” who were planning imminent attacks. In an official statement reported by the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, they asserted that weapons were seized during the arrests.
However, this account was firmly rejected by local sources within Beit Jinn. They denied any organizational or security affiliations for the detainees, asserting that the three individuals were civilians whose livelihoods were rooted in agriculture and livestock farming.
Israeli Military Admits Significant Casualties
Hebrew media, citing the occupation army, reported that five Israeli soldiers, including two officers, were seriously wounded during the intense fighting in Beit Jinn.
The severity of the injuries was highlighted by the deployment of a military helicopter to evacuate the wounded soldiers directly to the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv, underscoring the ferocity of the resistance encountered.
