Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi dismissed as “worthless” allegations leveled against the country by the foreign ministers of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, saying Tehran’s policy is never to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs.
In remarks released late on Sunday, Qassemi deplored the Bahraini and Emirati foreign ministers’ remarks against the Islamic Republic as “worthless, baseless, and rooted in their delusional minds”.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always considered the policy of good neighborliness with mutual respect as one of the basic priorities of its foreign policy, and interference in the internal affairs of other countries has never been the policy of Iran,” he said.
The alignment of the foreign ministers of Bahrain and the UAE as well as Saudi Arabia with the Zionist regime’s anti-Iran approaches will only legitimize the Zionist regime’s crimes and moves to sow discord (among Muslims), the spokesman added.
Qassemi further emphasized that such a wrong approach will make building mutual trust among regional Muslim states more difficult.
The remarks came after the Bahraini Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmad Al Khalifa and his Emirati counterpart, at the UN General Assembly, accused Iran of interference in the internal affairs of regional countries.
