Five Palestinians were freed on Monday as Israeli occupation handed over the bodies of 45 Palestinians, a day after Hamas returned the remains of three Israeli captives.
Palestinian media reported that five Palestinians arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Gaza after being released by occupation forces.
There have been heartwarming scenes in besieged strip as the released prisoners reunited with their families. But there were also Palestinians who went home heartbroken, as they did not find their loved ones among those who were freed, Al Jazeera reported.

Earlier, the Red Cross said it facilitated the transfer of 45 Palestinian bodies to Gaza on Monday morning. Zaher al-Wahidi, a spokesperson at the Gaza Health Ministry, told The Associated Press that Nasser Hospital received the bodies around noon.

Only 78 of the bodies returned so far have been identified, the ministry in Gaza said. Forensic work is complicated by a lack of DNA testing kits in Gaza, it added.
Returning the bodies of 45 Palestinians came after Hamas handed over bodies of three Israeli captives on Sunday.
Israeli officials identified the three as soldiers who were killed in the Hamas’s Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023.
Despite these developments, Israeli forces are also continuing to attack different areas across Gaza. They’ve targeted a school in the Shujayea neighborhood of northern Gaza City that has been sheltering thousands of displaced families. There was a wedding at the school, and three Palestinians, including a child, were injured.
In southern Rafah, three more Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces, who are also continuing attacks on eastern parts of nearby Khan Younis, including by demolishing and destroying residential houses.
