Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, stated on Friday that the Israeli regime lacks the military capability to confront Iran independently for even a week, emphasizing that its survival in a recent war was solely due to American and NATO support.
Addressing a gathering of Basij voluntary forces at the Imam Khomeini Mausoleum, Ghalibaf reflected on a 12-day war in June involving ‘Israel’ and the United States. He declared that the regime was “punished” during this aggression and ultimately defeated by the Iranian people and their armed forces.
Ghalibaf argued that the true source of the Islamic Republic’s power is not its missile arsenal but its popular support. “If the people’s hearts are with us, we are the strongest country,” he said. “But if they are not, our missile launches will not be as effective as they were.”
He provided a narrative of the war, stating, “Apart from the damage we sustained on the first day, on the sixth day of the war, the United States vice president [JD Vance] was seeking to negotiate a halt to the war through talking to the Iranian foreign minister.” The Parliament Speaker concluded, “The enemy entered with military force, and we warned and punished him with military force.”
Following its military failure, Ghalibaf asserted that the enemy has continued its animosity through other means, primarily by waging psychological warfare to drive a wedge between the Iranian people and the Islamic Establishment.
He stressed that maintaining public support is the essential strategy for continuing to defeat the enemy successfully.
