Iraqi forces liberated and raised the national flag in three towns west of Ramadi, local media reported on Wednesday.
Al-Sumaria TV quoted a high-ranking military official in Anbar district that the Iraqi army along with tribal fighters liberated three towns in al-Doulab Island from ISIL Takfiri terrorists.
“A military force in the island operations, the Seventh Birgade and tribal fighters managed today to liberate towns of al-Wardiyah, al-Dankiyah and al-Tahmaniyah, north west of Hit, west of Ramadi,” the source said acoording to the Iraqi TV.
“The liberation operation was accomplished after many terrorists were killed” the source said on condition of anonymity.
He noted that a booby-trapped car was dismantled, along with more than 100 IEDs (improvised explosive device).
The allied forces raised the Iraqi flag over several buildings in the liberated towns, the source added.
The Iraqi forces launched early on Wednesday a wide-scale operation to liberate al-Doulab Island from ISIL insurgents.
