Ex-Hezbollah Minister Mohamamd Fneish told Al-Manar that the resistance is an indispensable part of Lebanon’s capabilities.
In an interview with Al-Manar on Sunday Fneish slammed the current decisions taken by the Lebanese Government on disarming the Lebanese resistance group.
“Hezbollah’s participation in the government stems from the fact that it represents the resistance approach which liberated Lebanon, and that it is the approach of the majority of Lebanese.”
He stressed that “the decisions taken by the government are contrary to the Charter and have no legitimacy.”
Fneish explained that one of the most prominent justifications for the continuation of the resistance is what he called: “the Trump’s doctrine”, which he said doesn’t recognize international laws and conventions and resorts to force.
Such policy “reinforces the logic of resistance and reveals the extent to which some government officials disregard the country’s fate and interests,” he stated.

Fneish criticized some Lebanese officials who “made Israel their partner and justified its attacks as if it did not violate laws and conventions,” adding: “some of these officials act recklessly.”
“We are facing popular pressure to take to the streets in protest against the last decisions taken by the Lebanese Government,” the former Hezbollah minister said, noting meanwhile, that Hezbollah acts responsibly in a bid to prevent the Israeli enemy from exploiting any internal discord.
Fneish reiterated Hezbollah’s position which “calls for arms monopoly rather than disarmament,” explaining that “this monopoly remains linked to Lebanon regaining all of its rights.”
In the same context, the Hezbollah official emphasized that “the resistance is an indispensable part of Lebanon’s capabilities.”
He warned that what is being planned for the region is “very dangerous,” noting that “the hatred toward the resistance stems from its position as an obstacle to the expansionist projects.”
Fneish expressed meanwhile, Hezbollah’s discontent with the performance of the toward the President Joseph Aoun, who, according to the Taif Constitution, was supposed to serve as a safety valve.”
“There is no party in Lebanon more patriotic than Hezbollah, which has made every sacrifice for the sake of the nation,” he concluded.
The Lebanese Government approved earlier this month “objectives” of a US plan to disarm Hezbollah, yielding to US and Israeli pressures.
The cabinet session on August 7 followed another session on August 5, in which the Lebanese Government tasked the Lebanese Army with drafting a plan to confine all weapons to the State by the end of the year.
The Lebanese State has been subjected to unprecedented pressure by the United States, the first sponsor of the Zionist entity, to tackle the issue of disarming Hezbollah.
