President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Monday met with Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Kuwait, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, at Bayan Palace, in the presence of Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, Chargé d’Affaires Ahmad Arafa, and accompanying officials.
Sheikh Al-Sabah congratulated President Aoun on his election and welcomed him to Kuwait, reaffirming that “Lebanon holds a special place in the hearts of all Kuwaitis.” Moreover, Al-Sabah praised the Lebanese community in Kuwait for their contributions and good conduct, and highlighted the robust security cooperation between both countries, particularly in combating drug trafficking, which has led to the thwarting of multiple smuggling attempts.
The Kuwaiti Minister then reiterated Kuwait’s readiness to support Lebanon and condemned repeated Israeli attacks.
In turn, President Aoun thanked Kuwait for its consistent support and underscored the deep-rooted ties between the two nations. The President expressed hope that his meeting with the Emir would yield positive outcomes, especially concerning the return of Kuwaiti nationals to Lebanon, and confirmed Lebanon’s full cooperation with Kuwait, particularly in the security domain.
Both sides agreed to facilitate travel and enhance bilateral cooperation. Sheikh Al-Sabah expressed his desire to visit Lebanon, which President Aoun warmly welcomed.
Later, President Aoun met with Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, with whom he discussed revitalizing bilateral agreements and strengthening economic and investment ties. The talks also covered preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad and the GCC-U.S. Summit in Saudi Arabia, as well as recent developments in Lebanon.
The Crown Prince then accompanied President Aoun to the main hall of Bayan Palace for the start of official talks with the Emir of Kuwait.
