Yemeni Armed Forces have launched a preemptive strike against the USS Harry S. Truman, the United States aircraft carrier stationed in the Red Sea, marking the fourth such attack in just 72 hours. This operation is part of Yemen’s broader response to what to US support for ‘Israel’ amid ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza.
Yahya Saree, spokesman for Yemen’s Armed Forces, announced the latest developments on Wednesday, stating that the joint operation targeted not only the US carrier but also several other warships in the vicinity. The strikes were executed using a combination of cruise missiles and drones, aimed at thwarting what Yemeni forces interpreted as imminent military movements by US and allied forces preparing for a significant aerial assault on Yemen.
The tensions escalated further following an executive order from US President Donald Trump, which authorized the deployment of “overwhelming lethal force” against Yemen, in response to the nation’s recent actions against Israeli maritime operations.
Following this directive, US warplanes have reportedly conducted extensive airstrikes targeting civilian areas in Yemen, resulting in numerous fatalities among non-combatants.

In October 2023, Yemen’s forces, under the leadership of Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, intensified their military operations against critical Israeli targets as a reaction to Israel’s US-backed military actions in Gaza, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region. Although Yemen temporarily ceased strikes against Israeli-linked vessels after a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, operations resumed as violations of the truce by ‘Israel’ became evident.
While Trump refrained from mentioning ‘Israel’ in his comments, instead accusing Yemen of disrupting “international navigation,” Yemeni officials have firmly stated their operations are specifically targeting Israeli assets and do not pose a threat to other vessels.
Reaffirming their commitment to the Palestinian cause, Saree emphasized that Yemen would not be deterred by US aggression and that military operations against Israel would continue unless hostilities in Gaza ceased and the blockade was lifted. This stance was further solidified after a recent successful strike on the Israeli regime’s Nevatim Airbase, a critical launch point for attacks on Gaza, using a hypersonic ballistic missile designated “Palestine-2.”
As tensions continue to rise in the region, Yemen’s Armed Forces have made it clear: they remain steadfast in their military objectives, vowing to protect the rights of the Palestinian people and respond to perceived aggressions from foreign powers.
