The Islamic Republic on Friday bid farewell to martyrs who fell in the terrorist attack that killed nearly 100 people in Kerman, with Iranian officials vowing revenge for the attack claimed by Takfiri ISIL group.
85 people embraced martyrdom on Wednesday (January 3) as they were marking the fourth martyrdom anniversary of late commander Lt. General Qassem Suleimani in the southern city of Kerman.
Addressing the mass funeral of the attack’s martyrs, President Ebrahim Raisi gave an assurance that “the Iranian Armed Forces take the initiative and will determine the time and location” of the reaction.
He said people constitute the Islamic Republic’s “most important component of power”.
The Iranian president noted that the enemies have already observed and experienced the magnitude of Iran’s power.
For his part, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps vowed a terrible revenge for the heinous crime.
The IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami assured the mourners that Iran will exact revenge against the enemies for the terrorist attack.
Paying homage to General Suleimani as a popular anti-terror commander that fought against and eradicated Daesh, the IRGC chief said the notorious Daesh (ISIL) elements are not in control of any area in the world and “can only act as proxies for the US and Zionism.”
General Salami, meanwhile, highlighted the Zionist regime’s frustration in the “quagmire of Gaza”, saying Iran has dealt “heavy, painful, and unbearable” blows to the Israeli regime and the US.
