The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Navy (IRGC) showcased its military might during a drill in the Persian Gulf on Wednesday.
The naval forces were delivered two new homegrown missiles – the Qadir missile system and the Fath missile, which has artificial intelligence capabilities.
The military exercise was held to practice the strong defense of the Iranian islands in the region, with Abu Musa Island at the center of the war games. The IRGC commanders, including Major General Hossein Salami and Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, were present at the opening ceremony.
Fath-360, also known as BM-120, was announced on Iran’s Army Day on April 18, 2022, as a short-range satellite-guided tactical ballistic missile.
The Qadir missile system is a new generation of cruise missiles that can be launched from vessels and coasts and is capable of destroying marine targets with high precision and strength.
The unveiling of the missiles showcased Iran’s commitment to its defense capabilities and readiness to face any potential threats. The IRGC’s naval forces displayed their ability to protect Iran’s sovereignty and the Persian Gulf’s territorial waters.
The military exercise received significant media attention, with the new missile systems being lauded as a testament to Iran’s scientific progress and technological advancements.
