Prisoners Committee of National and Islamic Factions in Gaza called on Tuesday for mobilization in solidarity with prisoners, who have been for weeks subjected to oppressive crackdown by Israeli occupation authorities.
In a press conference in the besieged enclave, the committee announced that Friday will a national and popular day of escalation in solidarity with prisoners.
The committee called on Palestinian youth to direct engagement with Israeli occupation forces “in a clear message that Palestinian people won’t abandon the prisoners.”
The committee also stressed that the Israeli occupation bears full responsibility for the life of Palestinian prisoners.
Earlier this week, Israeli occupation authorities have brutally attacked Palestinian women in Damon prison in the occupied territories, sending a number of them to solidarity confinement, amid the Tel Aviv regime’s intensified crackdown on prisoners.
In a statement on Monday, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said Israeli forces have violently raided the cells of the female Palestinian detainees during the past days, adding that they have severely beaten the prisoners and injured several of them, the Palestinian Information Center reported.
The NGO further noted that Israeli prison authorities imposed several repressive measures against the female prisoners, including depriving them of taking shower for three days, cutting off electricity and spraying tear gas in their cells.
