Lebanese Army Intelligence unit killed the mastermind of Ras Baalbek terrorist blasts in a game-changing operation in Arsal early on Tuesday.
The Lebanese Army said in a statement an intelligence unit raided a residence in Arsal where a terrorist cell was based.
During the raid, some of the terrorists resisted, causing a confrontation with the army unit.
The cell was planning terrorist attacks, the statement said, adding that the operation resulted in killing two militants: Yasser Al-Ghawi and Atef Al-Jaroudi and the confiscation of seven explosive devices, suicide belt and 50 kg of explosive materials.
According to the army statement, Ghawi was the mastermind of Ras Baalbek blasts which took place in May 22, 2017.
