Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian says the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) firmly condemned the Israeli regime’s attack on Iran, which was carried out with US cooperation, adding that all member countries considered the assault illegal and a violation of the rights of nations.
Pezeshkian arrived in Tehran, Iran’s capital, on Wednesday afternoon after participating in the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State Summit and SCO Plus meeting, as well as attending a major military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
In brief remarks at Mehrabad Airport regarding his four-day trip to China, the president said, “This trip provided an opportunity to hold discussions with the presidents and prime ministers of the countries that attended the SCO Summit.”
Highlighting his meetings with the presidents of Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, and the prime minister of Pakistan, Pezeshkian said that his discussions with the Russian president lasted nearly four hours, covering a wide range of topics, including economic, scientific, regional, and nuclear matters, as well as issues related to the snapback mechanism.
He further noted, “At this summit, the foreign ministers of Iran, China, and Russia signed a letter protesting the illegal behavior of three European countries in triggering the snapback mechanism. This letter was submitted to the United Nations Security Council.”
Pezeshkian highlighted his meeting with his Chinese counterpart, stating, “Important agreements were reached, views were exchanged, and the decisions made were, in my opinion, very significant, strategic, and vital. It was agreed that other issues would be followed up by the foreign and economy ministers.”
The president emphasized that the Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, who accompanied him on this trip, engaged in productive discussions regarding security and defense equipment, and necessary follow-ups will be conducted in this area.
Pezeshkian also mentioned that he had brief discussions with other officials on the sidelines of the summit, which presented a valuable opportunity to foster understanding, empathy, and solidarity.
He expressed hope that the agreements made during this time would be pursued domestically, and that by implementing them, a positive outlook would emerge in the fields of economy, security, science, tourism, and social issues with neighboring countries and other participants of the summit.
The president emphasized, “We ask Almighty God for strength and perseverance to confront unilateralism, which is essentially the law of force rather than logic, so that we can establish logic and justice.”
