Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun revealed that Beirut has formally urged the United States to intervene and halt all Israeli aggressions against Lebanon, encompassing air, land, and sea attacks, alongside assassinations. He emphasized that “every martyr who resisted and fell for Lebanon, regardless of their place of birth, is a treasure for us.”
Speaking on Lebanese Army Day, President Aoun underscored noted that “the Israeli enemy is preventing the return to destroyed villages and reconstruction in the south.” He continued, “The Lebanese army stood by the people of southern Lebanon and made sacrifices.”
Aoun said, “It is my duty, and the duty of all political parties, to emphasize the exclusivity of weapons in the hands of the army and security forces.” He considered that “this is a fateful phase that cannot tolerate provocation from any side, and the danger will not affect one group over another, and all our sacrifices are sacred.” He added, “We must choose today between collapse or stability,” and emphasized, “We will not allow any terrorist to dare attack our people.”
Aoun noted that “the American side had presented us with a set of ideas that we will present to the Council of Ministers. We, on our part, requested an immediate cessation of Israeli attacks, an Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories, the extension of state authority over all of its territory, and the handover of weapons to the Lebanese Army.”
Aoun said, “We also requested that friendly countries provide the army with $1 billion annually, delineate the land border with Syria with the help of the United States, France, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and combat terrorism and drugs.” He continued, “These are the most important provisions of the memorandum, the titles of which we have identified to block Israel.”
Separately, President Aoun said, “A board of directors has been appointed for the Council for Development and Reconstruction, a damage assessment has begun, and I have taken this file abroad with me.”
