The Lebanese Army issued on Friday a statement in which it indicated that Lebanon is currently facing a series of exceptional circumstances, most notably the continued attacks and violations of national sovereignty by the Israeli enemy, in addition to the challenges of maintaining internal security and border control, as well as complex developments in the region.

The Army vowed it would not allow any breach of security or infringement of civil peace, affirming, at the same time, that overcoming this phase requires the unity and solidarity of the Lebanese people, their awareness of the gravity of the situation, their sense of responsibility, and their refusal to undertake any action that could have unintended repercussions on the security of the Lebanese.

It is worth noting that the Lebanese Army has taken intensive measures in order to foil any attempt to stir sedition in the nation in light of the developments in Syria.

Fighting renewed on Friday in the southern Syrian city of Sweida despite a ceasefire that was announced earlier, amid Israeli strikes and incursions into the Syrian territory.
