Hamas Movement issued on Monday a statement to announced that Al-Qassam Brigades released the Zionist soldier holding an American citizenship, “Idan Alexander”, following communications with the U.S. administration, as part of efforts led by mediators to reach a ceasefire, open the crossings, and allow humanitarian aid and relief to reach our people in the Gaza Strip.
This step comes after significant communications during which Hamas demonstrated a high level of positivity and flexibility, the statement added.
“We affirm that serious and responsible negotiations can lead to results in the release of captives, whereas the continuation of aggression only prolongs their suffering and may result in their death.”
“We confirm the movement’s readiness to immediately begin negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement for a lasting ceasefire, the withdrawal of the occupation army, lifting of the blockade, captive exchange, and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip,” it added.
Israeli media reported that the Red Cross has received the captive Aidan Alexander from Al-Qassam Brigades in Khan Yunis, Gaza Strip.
In a statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that negotiations aimed at securing the release of all Gaza captives will persist “under fire,” while the Israeli occupation military prepares for a potential escalation in the war.
He further asserted that the Zionist sole obligation is to establish a safe passage for Alexander’s release, attributing the breakthrough to the “military pressure” exerted on Gaza.
