In a statement following the funeral of Major General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, who was martyred in an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri declared that Iran will define the time and manner of its response to ‘Israel’.
Baqeri emphasized that the Israeli attack will not go unanswered and that Iran will carry out a retaliatory operation with precision, causing the Zionist regime to regret their actions. He described the aggression on Iran’s embassy as a “suicide committed by Israel” and stated that the martyrdom of Iranian military advisers will hasten the destruction of ‘Israel’.

The general also placed blame on the US for the Damascus attack, warning that Washington must be held accountable. These strong statements were in line with a message from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Sayed Ali Khamenei, who promised that Iran will make the Zionist regime regret their crime.
