Syria’s air defense successfully intercepted and shot down a majority of the missiles launched by the Israeli military near Damascus, according to local media reports.
Early on Sunday, Israeli military aircraft conducted an aerial attack from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights, targeting several sites in the Damascus countryside, as reported by local Syrian media.
The reports indicate that Syrian air defenses were able to shoot down most of the missiles. While there were no reported injuries, there were material losses as a result of the strike.
The Israeli entity has a history of conducting airstrikes on military installations in Syria.
In a separate incident on Tuesday, the Israeli regime attacked several military positions belonging to Syria near Damascus.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has accused ‘Israel’ of attempting to divert attention from its actions in the Gaza Strip by attacking Syrian territory.
The Zionist entity initiated a military campaign in Gaza on October 7, 2023, following the launch of Operation al-Aqsa Flood by the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement in retaliation for Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank.
