The Syrian government announced a three-day public mourning in addition to lowering flags at half-mast over the grave loss caused by the terrorists’ drone attack which targeted the military academy in Homs city.
The attack was carried out during a graduation ceremony where the officers and their families were celebrating the feat. Consequently, the drones’ blasts left dozens of martyrs and injuries among the servicemen and the civilians attending the ceremony.

Syria has strongly condemned the heinous terrorist crime that targeted a graduation ceremony for the Military Academy cadets in Homs through drones.
“As part of the brutal attacks perpetrated by the U.S. occupation-backed terrorist groups to destabilize situation in Syria, the terrorist organizations on Thursday, October 5, targeted a graduation ceremony for the Military academy cadets in Homs through drones, claiming the lives and injuring tens of civilians and military men,” Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement.
“The Syrian Arab Republic condemns, in the strongest terms, that heinous crime which shows that their perpetrators have gone far beyond in their bloody method from which the Syrian people have suffered for many years,” the Ministry added.
It said that the government of Syrian Arab Republic calls on the UN and security Council to condemn that cowardly attack and to apply relevant international resolutions, on top, no. 1267, 1989, 2170, 2178, 2195 and 2253.
Numerous martyrs of civilians and military personnel, in addition to dozens of injuries were a result of a targeting them by terrorist drones while they were at a graduation ceremony in Homs, according to a statement issued earlier by by the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces.
“As a part of their criminal approach and continuing to shed Syrian blood, armed terrorist organizations supported by well-known international parties targeted this afternoon the graduation ceremony for military academy students in Homs with marches carrying explosive ammunition immediately after the ceremony ended,” the statement reads.
It added “The aggression resulted in the death of several civilians and military personnel in addition the injury of dozens of the invited families, as well as several participating students.
The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces considers this act an unprecedented criminal one, and affirms that it will respond with full force and determination to these terrorist groups wherever they are, and stresses that the planners and executors will be held accountable, the statement concluded.
