A lawmaker has said that the forthcoming visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Syria would mark an end to US dreams for the West Asia region.
The visit will be a victory for regional policies adopted by the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Azizi, a member of Majlis (Iranian Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told IRNA on Tuesday.
Azizi said the imminent visit by Raisi to Syria will also be a victory for the world of Islam which he said was a result of unity and solidarity among the regional Muslim nations.
Western media has been suggesting for years that the US is invincible, but the victory of the Resistance in Syria showed that with unity and solidarity, Muslim nations can stand against any superpower, he added.
The lawmaker added that normalization of relations between Arab countries of the region and Syria will positively affect cultural, trade, and economic exchanges in the region and will also help ensure regional peace and security.
Iranian government officials have announced that President Raisi will travel to Syria for a two-day visit on Wednesday. The visit will be the first by an Iranian president to Syria in 12 years.
That comes as Syria is celebrating the end of a 12-year militant-led war that inflicted huge losses on the Arab country.
