Heroic confrontations were reported as Palestinians confronted a raid by Zionist settlers to the so-called Joseph Tomb in the West Bank city of Nablus late on Wednesday.
Islamic Jihad’s Al-Quds Brigades announced on Thursday that a group of Israeli settlers, backed by occupation forces, attacked Joseph Tomb at 22:30 on Wednesday, noting that Palestinians confronted the Israeli visit.
Palestinian sources reported that over 60 were injured during the clashes with occupation forces and settlers.
Israeli media reported, meanwhile, that Palestinians opened heavy fire against the tomb’s complex.
“Among the three who were wounded was Israeli Samaria Regional Brigade commander Col. Roi Zweig,” the occupation army said, as quoted by the Jerusalem Post.
The so-called Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan blamed the occupation government for the attack, explaining that such incidents would not occur if the Israeli occupation military kept a regular presence at the tomb and kept it open on a permanent basis to Jewish worshipers.
