A group of three members of the European Union Parliament paid a visit to the Russian military base in rural Latakia, following their meeting with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad with a Russian Parliamentary delegation in Damascus.
Head of International Affairs Committee in the Russian Senate, Konstantin Kosachyov, said in a press statement Friday that three EU MPs, who are from Italy, Latvia, Estonia, went to Hmeimim with members of the Russian Federation Council delegation, after meeting with Assad.
In Hmeimim, the deputies got introduced to the Russian Center activities, and checked the restaurant, the barracks, and the museum where military equipment that had previously been held by terrorists are maintained.
Kosachyov added that Syria’s visit also includes meetings with the Syrian Speaker.
