The number of coronavirus patients who have been admitted to the hospital in Iran over the past 24 hours stood at around 2,700, showing a marked decline after a peak in the fifth wave of the pandemic.
Over the past 24 hours, 16,654 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 2,704 of them hospitalized, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.
It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 113,824, saying the disease has taken the lives of 444 patients over the past 24 hours.
More than 4,538,400 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,275,500 who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.
Some 7,347 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
The Ministry also said that more than 22.14 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 11.77 million have received the second dosage.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 224 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.63 million.
