Lebanon’s Caretaker Defense Minister and Acting Foreign Minister of Foreign Zeina Akar vehemently condemned on Friday last night’s Israeli attacks and violations of Lebanon’s airspace.
In a statement, Akar filed a complaint to the United Nations, calling on the international body to deter the Zionist entity from carrying out such attacks.
Last night, Israeli enemy planes carried out low altitude overflights over Lebanon at 11:40 pm, during which they launched missiles from Lebanon’s airspace and targeted Syria, sparking a state of panic among Lebanese citizens.
“This incident constituted a direct and serious threat to the Lebanese navigation movement and to the safety of civil aviation, as it violated the airspace adjacent to Beirut Airport and was in direct contact with the civil aviation line,” Akar said.
She also stressed that this also constituted a flagrant violation of international resolutions, especially Resolution 1701, let alone a threat to security, stability, and peace in Lebanon, and most importantly a violation of Lebanese sovereignty.
“The United Nations is urgently called forth to deter Israel from committing these violations again and using the Lebanese airspace to carry out its attacks against Syrian territory,” Akar’s statement concluded.
