Head of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Mohammad Raad met with the advisor of President Joseph Aoun on Thursday to discuss the repercussions of the government decision to disarm the Resistance.
Sources told Al-Manar that MP Raad received Brigadier General André Rahhal at the parliamentary bloc’s HQ in Beirut’s southern suburb.
MP Raad reiterated Hezbollah rejection of the government’s disarmament plan in his meeting with Brig. Gen. Rahhal who affirmed the President’s keenness on the internal stability.
Earlier on Thursday, Rahhal met with Speaker Nabih Berri at the latter’s residence in Ain Al-Tineh.
Tensions have been high in Lebanon in the recent weeks after the Lebanese Government approved earlier this month “objectives” of a US plan to disarm Hezbollah, yielding to US and Israeli pressures.
The cabinet session on August 7 followed another session on August 5, in which the Lebanese Government tasked the Lebanese Army with drafting a plan to confine all weapons to the State by the end of the year. The two sessions were headed by President Aoun.

The Lebanese State has been subjected to unprecedented pressure by the United States, the first sponsor of the Zionist entity, to tackle the issue of disarming Hezbollah.
