Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that “detailed talks” are necessary in order to end the war in Ukraine, adding that Russia is “ready to wait” if the Ukrainian government believes that now is not the time for negotiations.
He said that Ukraine’s initial reaction to the proposal to create bilateral working groups was positive, but that they have not started meeting yet.
However, Putin also stressed that Moscow’s peace conditions, which have been rejected by Kiev, remain unchanged, and that the “causes of the conflict must be eradicated.”
He added that Russia’s security is his country’s main objective.
