Talks Focus on Gaza Ceasefire and Regional Stability
The two leaders are set to hold high-level discussions, with top priorities including efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of detainees.
During a meeting at the Amiri Diwan, Sheikh Tamim told President Trump, “We all want peace in the region, and we hope this time it can be achieved.”
“I know you are a man of peace and want to bring stability to the region,” he added, expressing confidence in continued cooperation between Doha and Washington—not only in the Middle East but also in conflict zones such as Ukraine.
The Emir also voiced enthusiasm for the broader US-Qatar dialogue, which will include discussions on peace, investment, and energy cooperation.
He noted Qatar’s readiness to share its experience from hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup with organizers of the 2026 tournament in the United States.
Trump stated that Qatar is contributing to peace efforts in multiple regions, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict, expressing hope for further progress.
Earlier in the day, Sheikh Tamim also welcomed members of the official US delegation at the Amiri Diwan.
Trump’s visit to Doha follows his participation in the US-Gulf Summit in Riyadh, where he emphasized the strategic importance of the Middle East and expressed Washington’s commitment to deeper cooperation with regional allies.
