According to Israeli media, the gunmen opened fire from a passing vehicle at the police car, before fleeing the scene on foot.
Israeli occupation authorities launched a large-scale search operation to locate the Palestinian who carried out the operation, who had safely withdrawn from the scene. The operation comes amid ongoing Israeli aggression in the region, with escalated violence reported in various cities and towns across the West Bank.
In response to the operation, senior Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mardawi condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies, promising that further resistance would be met with even fiercer retaliation. Al-Mardawi highlighted that attempts to isolate certain regions at the expense of others would not succeed.
