In a televised message on the occasion of Nowruz, the Persian New Year, Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, emphasized the importance of citizen involvement in enhancing productivity.
He stated that the key to solving the country’s economic problems lies in domestic production and national production.
If we plan to increase production, we must get people involved in the economy. We must pave the way for people to get involved in production & remove obstacles. That’s why the slogan I’ve chosen for this year is, “Surge in production through people’s participation.”

During his address, Imam Khamenei highlighted that if growth in production and advancements in domestic production are pursued in a suitable manner, many of the country’s economic issues, such as inflation, employment, and the value of the national currency, will be solved in a desirable manner. He also called for paving the way for the people to get involved in production and removing any obstacles that may hinder their participation.
Referring to the new Iranian calendar year of 1403, Ayatollah Khamenei named it the year of “Surge in production through people’s participation.” He expressed his hopes that the Iranian nation will benefit from both the spring of nature and the spring of spirituality.
The Year in Review
Imam Khamenei also reflected on the year that has just ended, 1402 AHS (March 2023 – March 2024). He acknowledged that like any other year, it had its positive and negative moments. On the domestic front, there was significant progress in the fields of science, technology, and basic infrastructure. However, the country also faced economic challenges that affected people’s livelihoods.
Epic Citizen Participation
The Leader mentioned the epic participation of the people in national events such as the Quds Day and 22nd of Bahman rallies. He highlighted the safe and corruption-free elections held at the end of the year as well. These instances of citizen involvement were seen as positive and desirable.
Bitter Events and Tragedies
Imam Khamenei also acknowledged the bitter events that occurred during the past year. These included the tragic event in Kerman on the anniversary of Martyr Suleimani’s assassination, the floods in Baluchestan, and the incidents faced by security forces. However, he emphasized that the most tragic event in the international arena was the situation in Gaza, which held significant importance in Iran’s international affairs.
Looking Ahead
In conclusion, Imam Khamenei expressed his hopes that Almighty God will compensate for the bitter events of the past year and continue to grant pleasing events to the Iranian nation and Muslim nations alike. With a focus on boosting production through people’s participation, the Leader set the tone for the new year ahead.
