On April 25, 1995, a powerful explosion rocked in the southern Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil, targeting two Israeli convoys near a the 17th Headquarters which hosts Israeli intelligence and security services during the Zionist occupation of Lebanon.
The explosion was a self-sacrifice operation carried out by a Hezbollah fighter, who has been known for his devotion, Salah Ghandour.
“One of Imam Hussein’s knights, one of the Islamic Resistance Mujahedin and self-sacrifice fighters, one of the sons of (Prophet) Mohammad and (Imam) Ali peace be upon them, emerged from the nation’s injuries and betook himself from Amel to Al Quds to continue the path of the first pioneer Ahmad Kasir,” a statement by Hezbollah Islamic resistance read, referring to the first self-sacrifice martyr who detonated his explosive-laden car in the Israeli military commander headquarters in Tyre on November 11, 1982, killing nearly 100 Israelis and injuring dozens others.
Ghandour’s operation killed or injured 30 Israeli soldiers and officers, as it dealt a blow to the Israeli intelligence in south Lebanon.
