Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah reiterated on Monday Hezbollah readiness to provide Iranian fuel to Lebanese power plants for free, conditioning the proposal to the Lebanese government’s approval.
Sayyed Nasrallah’s proposal was not voiced for the first time as the political class in Lebanon is accustomed to reject all what angers the US administration.
“Sadly, the Lebanese political class is not bold enough to take such a step out of fear of US sanctions on [politicians] and their families,” his eminence said during an exclusive interview on Al-Mayadeen News Channel.
Hezbollah managed in 2021 to import a number of Iranian diesel oil ships in order to break the US siege imposed on Lebanon.
However, the power crisis in Lebanon caused by the scarcity of fuel in Lebanon needs a governmental decision as the public power plants will receive the shipments.
Unfortunately, the political class in Lebanon is ruled by a system of interests run by the United States, which prevents the government from approving the Iranian donation.
Will the caretaker prime minister and premier-designate Najib Mikati lead Lebanon into a new stage of prioritizing the public interests and rejecting the US interventions?
