Overnight, two Ukrainian drones attacked a building close to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP), according to a spokesperson for the military-civilian administration in Enerhodar.
“Today at 0:26 a.m. [21:26 GMT on Monday], two strike UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles] of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dropped two 120-mm caliber mines on a building located near the Zaporizhzhia NPP. There is damage to the roof and glass, no casualties,” the spokesperson said.
In March, Russian forces took full control of the NPP; the Kherson region and most of the Zaporizhzhia region in Ukraine are now controlled by Russian military forces and local military-civilian administrations that have been formed there.
On Monday night, a strike was carried out on Nova Kakhovka in Kherson, causing explosions at warehouses with saltpeter, causing civilian deaths.
According to the military-civilian administration at Nova Kakhovka, the Ukrainian strike carried out on the city was done using multiple rocket launcher HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) supplied by the United States.
Additional ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) that the US administration had previously promised to Ukraine is also part of the latest military supply package.
In April, the White House announced that US President Joe Biden approved legislation providing $40 billion in aid to Ukraine. The law which was passed is to deliver $20 billion of military aid to Ukraine.
Russia has constantly warned that flushing US weapons into Ukraine will have dire consequences.
