Thousands of displaced people in the Gaza Strip endured another harrowing night as torrential rains continued for hours, flooding hundreds of makeshift tents across the territory.
Families struggled to protect their children and meager belongings from the pervasive floodwaters, facing dire conditions and limited resources.
Gaza Municipality said suffering of the Gaza Strip’s residents is worsening due to the storm, describing the situation as “catastrophic.”
In a statement, it called urgent international intervention to address the suffering of Gazans.

Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal explained that Civil Defense teams dealt with dozens of cases of tents being flooded in various areas of Khan Younis’ Mawasi.
Eyewitnesses reported that the rains flooded dozens of tents across the Gaza Strip, forcing displaced people to move their children into narrow passages between tents, while many spent the night trying to protect wet blankets and prevent water from seeping into the tents.
Lack in Gaza Shelters
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said Winter rains in the strip are making conditions even more desperate.
It stressed the urgent need for shelter supplies, noting that the group has those supplies to help people get through winter.

Aid groups working to provide shelter assistance in the occupied Palestinian territory said in early November that about 260,000 Palestinian families, totaling almost 1.5 million people, were vulnerable as the cold winter months approached.
But UNRWA said Israeli authorities continue to block its efforts to bring aid into Gaza despite the ceasefire deal, which stipulated that humanitarian assistance must be delivered to Palestinians in need.
“We have a very short chance to protect families from the winter rains and cold,” Angelita Caredda, Middle East and North Africa director at the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), said in a statement on November 5.
