Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi reiterated Iran’s backing for the unity and integrity of Iraq, hoping for the formation of a strong government in the neighboring state.
In a telephone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi on Wednesday, Raisi said Iran has always emphasized the need to maintain unity and integrity in Iraq.
He also expressed hope that the political process of parliamentary election in Iraq would soon yield results with the formation of a powerful government.
The president also congratulated the Iraqi government and people on the festive occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, wishing them success and security.
For his part, Al-Kadhimi congratulated Iran on Eid Al-Fitr and expressed gratitude to the Islamic Republic for supporting his country.
In a conversation with his Iraqi counterpart in April, Raisi reaffirmed Tehran’s support for security, stability and establishment of a strong government in Iraq, warning that the US has no compassion for Muslim nations, particularly for the Iraqi people.
Raisi said the time has proved the truth of the remarks from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei that the US has by no means any sympathy for the Muslim nations in the region, especially for the Iraqis.
