Islamic Jihad Palestinian group called on Tuesday for escalating Resistance activities against Israeli occupation, hours after the martyrdom of a Palestinian youth by Israeli fire near Jericho.

20-year-old Ahmed Ibrahim Owaidat was martyred as Israeli occupation forces raided the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp, southwest of Jericho at dawn on Tuesday.

Owaidat was initially critically hurt after being shot by a live Israeli bullet, Palestinian sources reported.

For its part, the Islamic Jihad said the “criminal escalation against our people represents the terrorist mindset of this occupier who continuously carries out killings with cold blood.”

“This blood which was shed in defense of Palestine won’t go in vain, and is part of the most honored battle against the occupation,” a statement released by the Resistance group said.

“We won’t abandon our duty to defend our people and land against the Israeli crimes,” the group said, calling Palestinian people to escalate all means of Resistance against Israeli occupation.
