Russian representative at the Vienna talks Mikhail Ulyanov has said that Moscow is cautiously optimistic ahead of today’s Vienna talks aimed at reviving the nuclear deal.
In a tweet on Monday, Ulynov stressed that there was no reasonable alternative to a successful conclusion of the talks.
The Russian envoy was hitting back at a journalist who reported a ‘gloomy mood’ among the negotiators.

Earlier on Sunday, Iranian top negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani stressed Tehran’s “serious will and strong preparation” for the removal of sanctions.
Later on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said the Islamic Republic will not hold bilateral talks with the US delegation during the talks in the Austrian capital.
Monday’s meetings are part of the seventh round of talks aimed at reviving the 2015 deal.
Under former American president Donald Trump, the US left the historic accord in 2018 then returned the sanctions that the deal had lifted and started to force other countries to abide by the economic restrictions too. Iran responded by reducing some commitments of the deal.
Donald Trump would call the policy Washington’s “maximum pressure” campaign. His successor Joe Biden has voiced a willingness to return the US to the deal, but has refused to take any meaningful measures towards the self-proclaimed intention.
