Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah had said it before. His eminence had warned the Kurds that the US would abandon them.
In a speech in February 2018, Sayyed Nasrallah wondered about the $500 mn to $750mn aid allocated by the Pentagon to the so-called Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) and Kurdish People Protection Units (YPG).
“What is the purpose of that? Is it for democracy to prevail in Syria? Or is it to defend Kurds whom I have to advise that they should take lesson from previous experiences,” Sayyed Nasrallah said on February 16, 2018.
His eminence warned that the US administration has been “using the Kurds as tools in their battle against the Syrian government, the Islamic Republic in Iran, Russia and the Axis of Resistance.”
“And at the end, when they (officials in US administrations) will reach their goals they will abandon… They will sell you like slaves in the market,” Sayyed Nasrallah said, addressing Kurds allied with the US.
US announced on Monday (October 7, 2019) it was withdrawing its troops from northern Syria, with President Donald Trump saying it was ‘too costly’ to keep supporting US-allied Kurdish forces in the region.
Following the US announcement, SDF spokesman Kino Gabriel said the Kurdish forces have been “stabbed in the back” by Washington’s move.
