Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, says that a security agreement between Iran and Iraq is currently being drafted and will be signed soon.
Larijani said on Monday, before embarking on a regional tour to Iraq and Lebanon, that Iran’s security is dependent on the security of its neighbors.
The official said that his upcoming visit consists of two parts, with the first leg taking place in Iraq—a friendly neighboring country with which Iran maintains close trade relations.
Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, met with Qasim al-Araji, Iraq’s national security advisor, to discuss bilateral security issues.

Larijani expressed appreciation for the cooperation between the two nations, particularly during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, and thanked the Iraqi government in advance for its significant support in facilitating services for pilgrims.
He noted that an important security agreement has been drafted with Iraq, emphasizing that Iran’s approach to its relationships with neighbors prioritizes the security of the Iranian people while also considering the security of neighboring nations.
As to Lebanon, he termed the Arab country as a significant and influential state in West Asia that shares civilizational ties with Iran and has extensive cooperation on regional issues.
In Lebanon, discussions will be held with officials and influential figures regarding the ongoing development, national unity, Lebanon’s independence, enhanced trade relations, and security developments, he said.
