Palestinian hospitals reported the arrival of 48 bodies over the past 24 hours, including 40 civilians martyred while waiting for humanitarian aid on the 674th day of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza. The surge in casualties underscores growing concerns over Israel’s ongoing targeting of aid distribution zones amid a deepening humanitarian catastrophe.
Since dawn Sunday, at least 8 more Palestinians have been martyred by Israeli fire, including 4 waiting for aid distribution, further underscoring what local health officials describe as a deadly pattern targeting the most vulnerable.

“A Pattern of Fire on the Hungry” — The Guardian
In a recent investigation, The Guardian revealed what it described as a “deadly pattern” in which Israeli forces repeatedly open fire near food distribution sites in Gaza. The report states that Palestinians seeking aid are frequently exposed to indiscriminate gunfire, suggesting a systemic targeting of hunger-stricken civilians.
Dr. Bassam Zaqout, director of the Medical Relief Society in Gaza, stated that “hunger is being weaponized in a calculated manner.” He described the scale of destruction as “massive,” noting that medical teams are under constant assault and many of the wounded cannot be rescued.

Escalation of Military Operations
Israeli airstrikes and ground assaults continued throughout Sunday across multiple areas of Gaza. One civilian was killed in an Israeli strike near Abu Hamid Roundabout in central Khan Younis. Eyewitnesses reported that several bodies remain in the area, as Israeli quadcopter drones opened fire on anyone attempting to retrieve them.
Israeli occupation naval forces also fired on the western areas of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. In Gaza City’s Al-Tuffah neighborhood, Zionist troops demolished several homes, while warplanes carried out two airstrikes on the Al-Amal neighborhood in northern Khan Younis.
Worsening Humanitarian Catastrophe
The Israeli occupation’s military campaign—backed by unwavering US support—has resulted in what Palestinian authorities describe as a full-scale genocide. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the assault has so far killed 61,369 people, injured 152,850, and left over 10,000 missing.
The ongoing siege has also triggered a man-made famine, claiming dozens of lives, while over two million Palestinians live in conditions of forced displacement amid widespread destruction.
