Iran has rejected Taliban’s claim of receiving support from Tehran, saying that such claim is aimed at diverting attention from crimes committed by the Saudi regime
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Bahram Qassemi, hit back at Taliban spokesperson Zabihollah Mojahed who claimed that the Islamic Republic has lent support to this terrorist group.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always had a leading role among all other regional countries in fighting terrorist groups, and has paid heavy financial and spiritual prices on this path,” Qassemi said.
The Iranian diplomat went on to describe the remarks by the Taliban spokesperson a premeditated move ordered by terrorist sponsors in a bid to confuse public opinion and spread anti-Iranian sentiments, and stressed that the claim of Iran’s support for this group is “a blatant lie, irrelevant and false.”
Such claims are “desperate attempt’ for distracting the world from the atrocities committed by Saudi Arabia against the innocent people of Yemen,” Qassemi added.
