Hezbollah issued on Thursday a statement in which it stressed support for the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and the elected government in face of the “US-backed inversion against the legitimate authority in the country.

Hezbollah condemned the blatant US interventions aimed at destabilizing Venezuela, stressing that the foreign acknowledgment would not grant legitimacy to the coup plotters.

The statement added that the entire world knows that US aim is not to defend democracy and freedom, according Washington alleges, but to seize the country’s fortunes and punishing all the states that stand against the American hegemony.
