Nearly 1000 Syrian refugees are to take their journey back to their home country on Monday in a move organized by Lebanon’s General security and coordinated with the Syrian authorities.
Hundreds of Syrian families are to board busses in several pick up points across Lebanon’s north, Bekaa, Beirut and Mount Lebanon.
The refugees will be returning to their towns in Syria through the border crossings of Masnaa and Zomrani.
It will be the latest such return organized by Lebanese authorities in recent months.
Media reports say that more than 1 million Syrian refugees are registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese government estimates the true number of Syrians in the country to be 1.5 million.
Political parties in Lebanon have, on many occasions, voiced their concerns about the large number of refugees in the country, saying that their prolonged stay represents an economic and social burden.
