US President Donald Trump on Monday said tensions with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were over after announcing a new trade deal with Mexico and Canada to replace the quarter-century-old NAFTA accord.
“There was a lot of tension between he and I and, more specifically, it’s all worked out. You know when it ended? About 12:00 last night. He’s a good man and he loves the people of Canada,” Trump told a news conference at the White House.
Known as the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the deal agreed ahead of a midnight deadline Sunday will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
