Iran’s parliament speaker hailed the outcome of Sunday’s election in Lebanon as a response to the hostile policies of the US and Israel towards Lebanon, such as their attempts to upset the Arab country’s security by supporting terrorists.
Addressing the parliament on Tuesday, Ali Larijani lauded the Lebanese nation for responding to the US and Israeli hostile moves by voting in the parliamentary elections.
The wise Lebanese nation expressed their comments by voting “no to the US and no to Zionists” in the elections in spite of all the dirty dollars that the US, Zionists and their regional followers spent to harm Lebanon, he added.
The speaker called on the US president to notice the result of the American and Zionist plots against Lebanon in the vote of the Lebanese people, warning the US that lack of commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will have the same outcome.
Donald Trump should realize that political and military pressure against people of the region will be faced with the voice of nations who stand against bullies, Larijani underlined.
A top adviser to Iran’s Leader also hailed Hezbollah’s landslide victory in Sunday’s elections, saying the landslide victory will pay an important role in the future of the region. “This great victory was a complementary to other victories of Lebanese nation against Israel,” Ali Akbar Velayati said on Tuesday.
Velayati added that the victory was also a victory for both the executive and legislative branches of the Lebanese government as both president and the prime minister are elected by the parliament.
He praised the Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah’s role in the great victory, saying that despite Saudis and Zionists’ enormous efforts to derail the elections, Nasrallah led the people to the victory.
The top adviser to Iranian Leader went on to add that Israel and Saudi Arabia found out that the huge amount of money they spent on the elections proved to be futile.
Velayati underlined that Hezbollah’s victory will strengthen the Resistance Movement against Israel in the region and Syria.
On Sunday, Lebanese people voted for their favorite candidates competing for 128 parliamentary seats.
Hezbollah and its political allies won more than half of the seats in the polls.
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman lauded the exemplary democratic process in Lebanon, saying Tehran respects the vote of Lebanese people and will support any government that the Arab country’s new parliament elects.
“Lebanon is an independent state. Democratic process is well in progress in that country and provides a very good example for many countries in the region,” Bahram Qassemi told reporters on Monday when asked about Iran’s stance on the Arab country’s parliamentary vote.
The Islamic Republic of Iran will support and cooperate with any government elected by the Lebanese people, the spokesperson added.
Qassemi also congratulated the candidates that have won the vote of people in the first parliamentary elections in Lebanon in nine years.
