US envoy Tom Barrack cut short a visit to south Lebanon on Wednesday amid protests in two planned stops against US pressure to disarm the resistance, as Israeli violations against Lebanese sovereignty proceed.
Al-Manar correspondent reported that the envoy had cancelled planned stops in nearby Khiam and in the city of Tyre.
National News Agency reported that Barrack arrived by helicopter at a Lebanese army barracks in Marjayoun near the border, with soldiers deploying in the area.
Our correspondent said residents of staged a sit-in in the southern border of Khiam in rejection of Barrack’s visit.
The residents raised images of martyrs who fell in south Lebanon, especially in Khiam which witnessed epic clashes between resistance fighters and Israeli occupation forces in the latest Israeli 66-day war on Lebanon in late 2024.

Protesters voiced rejection their condemnation of the US’ biased policy against Lebanon as well as Washington’s continued support for Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
Elsewhere in Tyre, similar protest took place, with residents raising Lebanese and Hezbollah flags.
Easier on Tuesday, Barrack sparked an outcry as he made offensive comments to the reporters at Baabda Presidential Palace.
Barak told journalists to “act civilized.”
“The moment that this starts becoming chaotic, like animalistic, we’re gone,” he addressed journalists as he was accompanied by Fellow US envoy Morgan Ortagus.
Israeli Violations
The protests on Wednesday coincided with continued Israeli violations in south Lebanon.
Al-Manar correspondent reported that Israeli occupation forces carried out an incursion into the Lebanese territory at dawn on Wednesday.
The IOF detonated an already damaged house in the border town of Kfar Kila, some 600 meters from the border between Lebanon and occupied Palestine.
The Lebanese State has been subjected to unprecedented pressure by the United States, the first sponsor of the Zionist entity, to tackle the issue of disarming Hezbollah.
The Lebanese Government approved earlier this month “objectives” of a US plan to disarm Hezbollah, yielding to US and Israeli pressures.
The cabinet session on August 7 followed another session on August 5, in which the Lebanese Government tasked the Lebanese Army with drafting a plan to confine all weapons to the State by the end of the year.
