Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held what were described as “fruitful” discussions with top Saudi Arabian officials in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah this week, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and promoting security and stability across the West Asian region.
During his visit on Tuesday, Araghchi met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman at al-Salam Palace. The two reviewed Tehran-Riyadh relations and the latest regional developments, according to the Saudi state news agency SPA.

The Iranian foreign minister conveyed Tehran’s gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s condemnation of the recent Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic and expressed appreciation for Crown Prince Bin Salman’s initiatives aimed at fostering regional security and stability.
For his part, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman voiced Riyadh’s hope that the US-brokered unilateral ceasefire agreement would contribute to conditions conducive to regional security and stability. He also reiterated the kingdom’s commitment to supporting dialogue as a diplomatic means of resolving disputes.
The meetings took place amidst heightened regional tensions following Israeli military aggression targeting Iranian infrastructure on June 13, which prompted a retaliatory campaign by Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC). The situation saw further complexity with US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites and subsequent Iranian retaliation against a US base in Qatar, before Israel declared a unilateral ceasefire on June 24. Saudi Arabia had publicly condemned the Israeli actions as a “clear violation of international laws.”
Foreign Minister Araghchi also met separately on Tuesday with Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry stated that the meeting between Araghchi and Prince Faisal bin Farhan addressed recent regional developments and efforts towards achieving security and stability.
Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman confirmed his meeting with the Iranian foreign minister on X (formerly Twitter), stating they reviewed various aspects of Riyadh-Tehran cooperation, regional developments, efforts to promote security and stability, and other topics of mutual interest.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei also commented on the discussions via X, confirming that FM Araghchi held “fruitful conversations” with the Saudi Crown Prince, Foreign Minister, and Defense Minister regarding Iran-Saudi bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.
