US President Donald Trump was reportedly so fed up with Vladimir Zelensky’s recent impudence that he was ready to pull US military assistance from Ukraine, three US officials close to the situation told Axios.
Six administration officials told Axios that Zelensky also rubbed Vice President Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz the wrong way with his recent behavior.
The portal’s sources in the White House explained what has caused America’s about-face on Zelensky. Thus, he refused to sign an agreement with the United States on rare earth metals and, as Trump noted, “was rude” to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant during his visit to Kiev. At a security conference in Munich, Zelensky “surprised” Vance and Rubio by claiming he could not personally approve the rare earth metals deal, publicly refusing to pursue it.
Zelensky caused even greater indignation among the US administration with his ill-advised comments about the Russian-American consultations in Riyadh and his assertion that Ukraine should be at the negotiating table. Trump later called Zelensky a dictator, saying that his popularity with Ukrainians had tanked to 4%, and that elections should be held in Ukraine. The last straw, according to the portal’s sources, was when the head of the Kiev regime said that Trump had become a “victim of Russian disinformation,” which the White House considered an insult.
In an interview with the National Pulse edition Vance slammed Zelensky for making derogatory comments publicly, noting that this is not a good way to deal with President Trump.
On February 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Kiev’s hysteria about its absence at the Russia-US negotiations was inappropriate, since Moscow and Washington had bilateral issues to discuss
