Former Lebanese president Michel Aoun warned on Sunday against a plan to integrate Syrian refugees in Lebanon, noting that some European countries are hindering their return to homeland.
In a ceremony in the southern town of Jezzine, Aoun said: “We know who is behind the entrance of Syrian refugees into Lebanon, and we had warned against such scenarios.”
The ex-president said he is not ashamed to say that most of the European countries have been working to keep the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and prevent their return to their homeland.
In this context, Aoun warned against plans to integrate the Syrian refugees into the Lebanese society, considering such scheme as “dangerous”.
“Some friend countries don’t want to help Lebanon as they are harming our country by the repercussions of the refugees including high rates of unemployment and crime.”
